my mind wanders…i think about last week, when i saw the new bond movie. i have always been pretty out-and-out and my 007 fanboyitude, but, honestly, less than half of the bond movies since 1980 have been good, only two were quite good, and the last one was far and away the worst bond evar. so with a new bond in there (chamelon extraordinaire daniel craig), and a promise to go “back to basics” from the producer, i figured i’d go open mind.
fuck, even if my mind were closed, that movie would have kicked the doors in and forced it to acquiesce. that was (probably) the best bond ever. easily the best since the first four or so. this is the first time that we get to see that 007 is a killer. and human. but a killer. who’s a human. it was intense, well-acted, very well-written, and, most of all, believable. no insane stunts! no gadgets! great villain (yeah, actually, he was awesome, best villain since renard in the world is not enough)! bond girl is hot but not supermodel unrealistic hot! bond is…shit, human and amazing and scary and fascinating.
so yeah, i, er, liked it.
and if that wasn’t enough, daniel craig says he wants to do a full-frontal gay scene in the next bond film. le whoa. uhh, sure. fine by me. actually le chiffre in casino royale has a great scene where he is torturing bond and strips him naked (we can’t see anything) and he takes this lingering look at bond’s body and says “you’ve take good care of yourself…it’s such a waste”. he is really not into his “girlfriend” earlier in the film either. fantastic. not that i necessarily want there to be a queer bad guy in a movie so people can go “yeah, well, whaddaya expect from a gawdamn fag?”, but it was like spartacus — sure, he’s not gay, unless you want him to be, in which case he’s definitely a top.
okay, not that i’m rambling, but i need to go see every mads mikkelsen movie now. that guy is stunning. according to his imdb bio, he spent eight years as a professional dancer. whoo…
